The U.S. has refused to join the 144 nations that have ratified the 1997 international treaty banning the use and production of anitpersonnel land mines. Including the U.S., the countries that haven't signed on have a combined stockpile of 235 to 240 million mines. To support a worldwide mine ban, sign the People's Mine Ban Treaty on the Landmine Survivor's Network website, www.peoplestreaty.org

40,000 new land mines are laid somewhere everyweek, and injure or kill 60 people a day.

It would be nice to actually have enough money donated so I could go to Italy, instead I must fund that on my own. No I haven't worked for the LCV, but get there weekly updates.
